    About this item

A nice pair of original RAF 1941 pattern flying boots in good condition and in a size 9.

This pattern of boots came into issue with the RAF during the Second World and were particularly popular with Bomber Command, earning the nickname of 'bomber boots'.

This particular pair are in good condition with some signs of age and wear. The suede uppers are in good shape with some marks where the straps have rubbed over the years etc. The sheepskin lining is also very good and mostly intact. The rubber galosh section which runs around the boot where it joins the sole is in good condition with no missing sections as is often found. The rubber is also brown rather than black which is rare to find. Both boots are fitted with matching brass 'Lightning' brand zippers as are commonly found on this pattern of boots. The boots come complete with their original leather ankle straps. The boots retain their original 'Redferns' branded soles which are rare compared to the usual 'Itshide' type usually seen.

The leather flap which sits behind the zipper on each boot bears the War Department broad arrow marking as well as the numeral '9' which denotes the size. The RAF stores code of 22c/752 is also present.

The boots are in good condition and display well. One sole features a crack and the leather belts have lost some of their stitching is illustrated in the pictures. Overall they are a nice pair of boots but please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that they are a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.

Altogether a nice pair of boots which display very well and are in a harder to find, larger size.
