About this item
An original pair of black leather ankle boots dating from the 1930s to 1940s which are a size 9.
These boots are typical of those worn by officers in Rifle regiments as well as in the Tank Regiment and Royal Marines, amongst others. They may well be officer's boots but equally could have been more by a civilian.
The boots are typical of the period. They feature a black leather upper, stitched tie cap, black painted metal eyelets and leather soles with metal blakey heels. The boots are lined with leather meaning they would have been an expensive pair of boots when new and are of high quality. The leather lining bears the maker's name of 'J & F Greenstreet' along with the address of 18 Bench Street, Dover. This is marked in typical early graphics which may suggest that the boots date from the 1930s rather than the 1940s. There is no size marked in the boots but they fit me well and are therefore a size 9.
The boots are in good condition for their age and display well. The exterior looks good with only limited signs of wear and age. The soles are also in good condition, again with some limited wear.
A very nice pair of boots which would suit a militaria collector or vintage collector equally very well.
This is a vintage item which is 'sold as seen'
