About this item
A rare pair of early Second World War British Army officer's brown leather ankle boots which were made in 1941 by 'Barratts' and are a size 11.
This pattern of boots made from pebbled leather is typical of those made in the late 1930s and early part of the Second World War. They are a nicely made pair of boots which are notably of a higher quality than those produced for the rank and file. The stitching is fine which is a common trait of quality footwear from the first half of the 20th Century. A set of eight eyelets is fitted to each boot through which original period laces are fitted. The soles and heels are leather and feature metal studs which are again typical of the era. The sole is marked with the size of 11L.
Inside the boots are marked with the maker's name of 'Barretts' who were a prolific Northampton shoe and boot maker during this period. The 1941 date is also present as is the size of 11L.
The boots are in good condition with some signs of age and wear. Overall they display well as can be seen in the pictures. Please take time to study these and bear in mind that they are a vintage, pre-owned pair of boots which may have small flaws commensurate with age.
A rare pair of early war boots!
This is a vintage item which is 'sold as seen'
