About this item
A scarce original pair of Royal Ordnance Factory workers felt soled shoes which date from the Second World War.
These shoes were designed specifically for women working in ammunition factories and similar. They have no metal parts and a felt sole so that cannot cause any sparks which would be dangerous. The uppers are made from a thin, cardboard like leather which is typical of economy wartime leather. There eyelets are present through which are fitted what appears to be the original laces. A War Department broad arrow is marked to the toe of each shoe.
Inside the shoes are marked with the maker's name of 'John White' who were a prolific shoe maker during this period. They also feature the 1942 date.
The shoes appear to be in unworn condition but do have some signs of age. There is some moth damage to the felt sole and some foxing etc from storage. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that they are a vintage pair of shoes which have some flaws due to being in long term storage.
A rare pair of Home Front shoes which would make a great addition to any collection.
This is a vintage item which is 'sold as seen'
