About this item
An original pair of Women's Auxiliary Air Force issue shoes clearly dated 1942 and in a size 5 1/2.
This pattern of shoes was worn by members of the WAAF throughout the Second World War. They are made from a black coloured pebble grain leather and feature an apron front toe. They feature a set of ten eyelets through which the original laces are fitted. The soles and heels are leather and the size of 5 1/2 M is stamped to the instep.
Inside the shoes bear numerous markings which do not match. These were issued and worn to by the same lady and it is not uncommon to find mis-matched maker's name in original issued footwear. Both were however made in 1942 with one being made by 'H C' and the other by Wm. Evans Ltd. Both shoes retain their War Department inspection stamps.
Altogether an excellent pair of shoes which are in good condition with limited signs of wear and age. A hard to find piece of wartime women's uniform!
