About this item
A scarce original pair of British Army Officer's brown brogues made in 1944.
All officers in the British Army would have owned a pair of shoes of this pattern as an option to their boots. They were worn with the Service Dress uniform for walking out and sometimes seen with other uniforms such as Khaki Drill. They are made from a brown coloured leather which features a pebbled finish to the exterior and a separate toe cap. The soles appear in reasonable condition with some signs of wear and feature original period fitted leather half soles. The size of 11 is stamped to the instep in the correct manner for British military footwear from this period. The heels are also original period examples which feature a metal 'Blakey' heel.
The interior of the shoes both feature the maker's name and the 1944 date, confirming this as guaranteed wartime made ovvier's shoes.
The shoes are in good condition for their age and display well. There are some signs of age and wear as well as some flaking and cracking to the exterior of the leather finish. There is a small loose of stitching to the rear of each shoe as illustrated. This could be repaired. Please bear in mind that these are a vintage, pre-worn pair of shoes which are over 8-0 years old which may have other small flaws commensurate with age.
Overall a good original pair of British Army Officer's shoes with a clear wartime date. These are very rarely offered for sale - especially in a large size!
This is a vintage item which is 'sold as seen'
