About this item
An original pair of Indian made British Army ammunition boots / jungle boots clearly dated 1945 and in a size 8S.
This pattern of boots, often referred to as 'Ammo boots', came into issue with the British Army in 1936 and saw issue throughout the Second World War and well into the 1950s. These examples feature the large loops to the rear which are a notable feature of the jungle pattern boot which was introduced in 1944 and therefore may be made to this pattern.
This particular pair were made in 1945 as can be seen from the stamp to the insole. They feature a black pebbled leather exterior and separate stitched toe cap. The soles are the original leather examples which feature metal toe plates which are large size Indian pattern examples. The heels are also the originals and are fitted with metal 'horse shoes', which are again the correct pattern. The soles have never been fitted with studs.
Inside the boots the original maker's markings are present to the insole. They feature the maker's initials along with the 1945 date and the size of 8S. The size is also stamped again to the instep of the sole.
The boots come complete with a set of the correct pattern of leather laces.
The boots are in very good condition and display well. They show signs of light service use and are sound overall. There are nicks etc to the toe caps which suggest that they have been used and polished etc. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that they are a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small issues commensurate with age.
A good pair of boots with a hard to find wartime date.
This is a vintage item which is 'sold as seen'
