Rare Vintage British GBB G B Britton Jungle Combat Boots Size 10 Military

An unusual vintage pair of jungle or tropical-pattern combat boots. The insoles are marked GBB, G.B. Britton & Sons a prominent British footwear manufacturer that produced military boots. Most notably seen on 1944 pattern jungle boots and early DMS boots.There are no visible military issue, contract or date markings, so their precise origin and service use cannot be confirmed.

I have been unable to find another identical pair. Comparable British tropical and jungle-service boots from the late 1940s and 1950s are known with green canvas uppers and rubber soles, although this pair differs in several construction details. They are therefore offered as British-made vintage jungle or tropical boots, possibly military or commercial-contract manufacture, but with no visible military issue markings.

The boots are constructed from black grained leather with olive green canvas uppers and heavy moulded rubber soles. They feature full stitched-in tongues, brown laces, drainage eyelets to the inner sides and reinforcing leather strips running vertically down the backs.

They are marked size 10 M and remain in very good condition for their age, with only light marks, wear and age-related discolouration. The leather remains in good order, the canvas uppers are sound and the soles retain strong tread. There is some light dirt and wear to the soles consistent with previous use.
