    For sale is a Pre WW1 Imperial Service Medal, Case, Transit Case & Supporting Documents to Robert Eaton who lived at Berwick in Elmer, Bradford. This medal & supporting documents was awarded to Robert Eaton in 1909 for his outstanding service at the post office. 

      This imperial service medal comes with a letter from the home office, Whitehall dated 24th February 1909 that states;   “Sir I am commanded by to transmit to you, the King herewith an Imperial Service Medal, in recognition on of your meritorious services as an officer in the Postal service and I am to request that you will acknowledge the receipt of the decoration and will sign the acknowledgment with your Christian names in full. I am. Sir Yours faithfully. R.T. Reynard Secretary &c of the Imperial Service Order.”   Accompanying this letter is also a letter from his boss at the post office that talks about his award being presented to him, and for him to enjoy his retirement and hoping of his health to improve.    This medal is also accompanied by its original presentation box, cargo transport box and cargo box envelope. This is true piece of social history accompanied by supporting letters/ certificate which are often missing from these awards.    The Imperial Service Medal is a medal affiliated with the Imperial Service Order. The medal was established under the statutes of the Imperial Service Order, on 8 August 1902, by King Edward VII, with the first awards appearing in the London Gazette in May 1903. It is presented upon retirement to selected civil servants, including those belonging to the lowest support and clerical branches, who complete at least 25 years meritorious service.    These will be sent via royal mail special delivery and dispatched within two working days.
