About this item
A good pair of Wehrmacht felt topped boots (Filzstiefel) which were essentially a copy of the Russian Balensky Boots encountered by the Germans during the invasion of Russia.
The shoe and lower part of the upper section was brown leather, usually, as with these, then blackened. The upper felt was animal hair stuffing mixed with recycled wool.
The upper sections have a short opening at the top with a strap and roller buckle for adjustment.
Probably resoled they are in overall very good condition, one boot with a reinforcing strip where the heal joins the shoe. One pull tab carries an ink stamped Rb Number which appears to shoe a size of 28cms for the shoe. There is no obvious moth damage to the upper felt sections.
