About this item
WW2 RAF CHEMICALLY HEATED ANKLE POUCHES. These pouches were worn around the ankle and inside the 1940 or 41 pattern flying boot. They would contain an "Everhot" chemically heated pack, which was activated by adding water. A chemical process gave off heat, but these packs were unpopular as they often caused chemical burns.
Good pair of these pouches, with elastic straps. The press studs have some oxidation, but still work nicely. These packs were connected with a piece of elasticated strap that would have gone under the wearer's foot. These packs have been separated and have individual straps now. Inside, they are marked with an A.M. crown mark and stores reference number 22C/454.
Overall, a very good used pair of these rare flying boot chemically heated ankle packs, ideal for display in any RAF collection, museum or display.
