WW2 USAAF A-6 pilots winter flight boots

WW2 USAAF A-6 FLYING BOOTS. The standard flying boots as worn by nearly all USAAF bomber aircrew during WW2. These could be worn on their own with additional socks and electrically heated inserts, or sometimes worn over normal dress shoes as well.

This pair is in well-aged condition, the nature of the rubber soles has meant they have somewhat hardened and cracked over time. Possibly stored in hot temperatures, this has led to the soles being somewhat deformed now and pretty much totally hard. A shame, but from the right angle the boots would still display very nicely, and even fitted onto a mannequins ankle they would still display well. The rubber section on the rear of the boots has again somewhat deteriorated and is also coming adrift, but from the front this is not immediately noticeable. 

Normally the shearling of these boots often suffers damage, ripping, tearing, etc. But these have survived quite well all things considered. The sheepskin shearling has a few thin spots, with only very minor loss in areas to the brown chromed finish. The zips are both in good working condition, marked "TALON" on the puller. Both boots retain excellent USAAF decals on the side of the boots, with some minor losses but they are still there.

Inside the boots, both are labeled with a manufacturer label, made by "HOOD", size LARGE. The interior sheepskin is very nice and clean, without much loss or damage to report. 

Overall a well-aged set of boots, that would still display well in any USAAF museum or collection.
