    Condition lightly polished, about very fine 

    George Stowell served with the 1st Battalion South Wales Borderers during the Great War and was in France from October 1914; he was Mentioned in Sir Douglas Haig's Despatch of 16 March 1919 (London Gazette, 4 July 1919 refers), and was awarded his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal in Army Orders of October 1922. His M.I.C. notes that the Clasp and 'Roses' for his 1914 Star were lost in transit, and reissued to him accordingly
