Correctly named 1078 Cpl J Deery HLI
John is seen to have lived at 261 London Road in Glasgow.
He served with the 15th Bn (1st Glasgow Pals) as well as the 1st and 3rd Bns.
He is entitled to an India General Service Medal with the clasp North West Frontier 1919 which he earned attached to the 2/6 Bn Sussex Regiment.
In January and July 1917 we find a reports of him wounded in action though there are no further details.
We find a report from the Police Gazette that has his deserted from the 3rd Bn on June 26th 1917.
He also served with the 18th POW Labour Corps.
He retained the same service number throughout.
He is entitled to a Pair with IGSM NWF 1919.
The medal has a modern replacement ribbon.
