About this item
A very nice Hamilton Genève mechanical wristwatch issued to the Royal Navy in 1975, the Genève marked dial being one of very few issued in that year and considered something of a rarity.
Its 36mm brushed stainless steel tonneau-shaped case sits on the wrist like a cushion. The monocoque case means you have to go through the front to gain access to the movement. Made from a single block of stainless steel it increases the watch's resistance to water and gives it additional strength over a traditional case with a screw-down case back.
The fixed strap bars have a length of 18 mm and the watch comes with an unissued grey NATO strap.
A domed crystal sits above a matte black dial. The wide minute track has markers coated in Tritium while large Arabic numerals mark the hours. The sword hands are again coated in Tritium. Text is printed precisely with the T in a circle, signifying Tritium. At 6 o’clock, the WD Arrow indicated British Government property. On the reverse, it carries its military Nato stock number and vocabulary number for the Royal Navy, 0552.
The movement is a manually wound Hamilton Cal. 649, 17 jewels with hacking. The black dial is original and in very good condition as is the rest of the watch. It runs very well and keeps time to within about one minute a day.
