About this item
A particularly nice and really very wearable example of a World War 2 Silvana Wristwatch produced for the Luftwaffe.
Utilising a Swiss AS1130 movement these watches were waterproof and sealed with a stainless steel case back, screwed into place with a special spanner. This piece is marked D399013, the lack of the letter H following the numerals indicating Luftwaffe use.
The dial is black with both the hands and hour markers with luminous paint, the luminous paint on the markers having darkened considerably. The maker’s name is at the 12 o’clock position, the subsidiary second dial and hand at 6 o’clock.
The case is plated brass and measures 35mm excluding the crown. There is some light wear to the case plating.
Strap bars are fixed and will accommodate an 18mm strap, the present strap showing surface wear and is not an original period piece.
The movement is remarkably clean, working well and keeping good time. It will be dispatched and received as such but is not guaranteed.
A very nice useable timepiece and scarce to find to the Luftwaffe.
