A nice example of a 1944 dated British military whistle marked with the manufacturer J. Hudson & Co. in Birmingham, these whistles were vital pieces of field gear issued to infantry officers, aircrews, and tactical units for signalling and communication.
Constructed from heavy-duty brass with its original nickel plating, this piece shows an honest, battle-worn character. The silver-toned plating has beautifully worn down in areas to reveal glimpses of the warm brass underneath, giving it a striking look that only comes with genuine age.
The historical markings remain clearly legible on the body. It features the famous maker's stamp, the crisp "1944" production year, and the iconic "Broad Arrow" crows-foot mark signifying official British government issue.
