About this item
30) An interesting original wartime German compass with slit hair wire sights to the centre and moving scale which is adjusted by turning a knob underneath the base. we are not sure if this was for surveying or for use with artillery? The top knob locks the needle in place. It is in excellent order and maker coded "cln" with date of 1941. The compass works well, the spirit level is perfect, the sights are good and the lower dial turns nicely. There is minor paint loss to the body. The base has a clamp to allow it to be put onto a tripod. The needle locking knob works well but is slightly bent. A lovely high quality item. It stands 5 inches tall and is 3 inches across.
