Original WW2 British Army Camouflage Windproof Trousers Size 3

An original pair of Second World War British Army camouflage windproof trousers in a size 3. 

This pattern of trousers was introduced in 1943 and was based on the earlier drab and snow windproof trousers. These examples are made from a lightweight gabardine fabric and are cut in the same style as the earlier windproofs with a wide leg, drawstring waist and map pocket to the left leg. The seat features a reinforced section and ankle tabs are located to the cuff which fasten with green vegetable ivory (plastic) buttons. 

To the rear of the trousers the original label is still present and is bright and legible. It bears the title 'Trousers, Windproof' and the size of 3. The manufacturer's name 'C. W.S Ltd ' is present and denotes the maker as The Cooperative Wholesale Society - better known today as 'Co-op'. The War Department broad arrow marking is also present. 

The trousers are designed to be worn over the battledress uniform and are therefore cut in a wide manner. They are intended to fit a 36" - 37"  waist and the drawstring waist allows them to be pulled in a lot to make the waist smaller. When laid flat they measure - 

Waist - 19"
Rise - 15 1/2"
Rear rise - 18 1/2"
Inside leg - 28"
Outside leg - 42"
Cuff - 11"

The trousers are in good condition overall with some signs of wear and use. There are numerous machine repairs to various parts of the trousers which are illustrated in the pictures and reflected in the price. There is a piece of mis-matched camouflage material fitted to the crotch which can be seen in picture 6 and appears to be a vintage repair. There are also some small rust type marks although these are on noticable under close scrutiny due to the bust camouflage pattern. Overall the trousers are very wearable but please take time to study the pictures and bear in mind that these are a vintage, worn pair of trousers which have small issues commensurate with age.
