About this item
The MKIII helmet was first developed by the medical research council in 1941 on behalf of the British army. The MKIII helmet was first worn in combat by Canadian and British troops on D-day. The helmet is more commonly referred to as the turtle shell due to its resemblance to the animal. This example is in very good condition retaining its original finish with the stamping MB786 and on the liner is dated 1944 with the makers CCL which were the 1st batch of shells.
