    About this item

A very good WW1 Devonshire Regiment Officers Cuff rank tunic, attributed to Major Alfred Sidell Mason. 1/6 Devons.

The tunic of the regulation pattern with rank crowns and lace to the cuffs representing a Major, although one can see the ghost outline of where his pips were previously. The left sleeve with a bullion wound stripe. The right sleeve with red and blue overseas service chevrons.

Complete with well polished regimental buttons. His collar badges have been replaced with staff tabs, although one of these was absent, the original has now been located, and is back on the uniform.

The interior with a silk and cotton lining. The collar with a London tailor’s label and ink name.

Overall condition is good for its age, some scattered moth nips, an old repair under one arm, likely done during service. I have pictured everything which I would consider a "fault" so please study the images. This tunic has not previously been in a collection.

Comes complete with Mason's original Sam Brown belt, and a small canvas pouch also named to "Mason 1/6 Devons".

Please see seperate listing for Mason's Staff officers cap. I will natrually be amenable if anybody feels strongly about keeping the two together.
