About this item
A good Victorian 1827 Pattern officers sword regimentally marked to the 1st Derbyshire Rifle Volunteers.
Retailers mark of "Smithson&Brigden Cheapside&Hardwick Derby" which sounds like a typical mid victorian Co-Operative.
Clean blade with the regimental engraving, crowned VR cypher and usual strung bugle and foliate engraving, measuring 32 inches.
Hilt in cleaned condition with some loss of definition, and of standard 1827 pattern. Fishskin bound grip with brass twistwire. Scabbard of steel with twin hanging rings. Unusual brass finish to the throat and scabbard bands, which bay be regimental pattern, or added alter. Either way it lends quite an attractive look.
Strictly over 18's only. Photo ID will be required before this item can be dispatched.
