About this item
This is a rare 1909 WW1 Turkish Ottoman Empire Cavalry sword, which was made under German contract by Carl Eickhorn of Germany for issue to Turkish cavalry troops during the first world war. Features a steel basket hilt guard with Islamic star and moon pierced into the face of the guard. Checked wooden grips with light period service wear. 84cm pipe back blade with Ottoman Turk script number over German makers details with manufacturer Islamic year 1325 (1909) stamps to the ricasso. Blade surface shows light age wear and period edge sharpening. Blade fits well into the rolled steel scabbard.
