About this item
A very early RAF Aerial Propaganda Leaflet, dating I believe from 1939, entitled “Germans, Don’t Forget”.
Measuring 210mm x 144mm, the Leaflet is double sided with the same text either side, and is in very good condition.
Numbered 151 it sets out to present the folies of the war and interestingly mentions the little known invasion of Germany by the French shortly after the declaration of war, a short lived incursion which took the Germans completely by surprise.
The last image shows the literal Google translation of the text.
During 1939 Leaflets were dropped on Germany by both Aircraft and by the use of balloons.
First dissemination by aircraft: 07/08 September 1939. Last dissemination by aircraft: 01/02 October 1939. Number dropped: 4,392,000
First dissemination by balloon: 01/02 October 1939. Last dissemination by balloon: 01/02 October 1939. Number dropped: 57,000
