About this item
Four postcards from a German sailor who served in both world wars,two of which he is in uniform and the other two are of the ship he served on SMS Regensburg during WW1. The vessel was involved in the bombardment of Yarmouth and Lowestoft, and later in action in the battle of Jutland, she was captured by the allies in 1918 and used by the French. During WW2 she was reused by the Germans in the defence of the U-boat pens in Lorient eventually be in scuttled in 1945 and can be seen today Still in situ low tide. The cards have some minor damage to the corners due to age, but otherwise good condition.
