About this item
For sale is a Rare WW2 British Made Blood Chit For Japan And Surrounding Countries.
This blood chit has an English section that states “dear friend, I am an allied fighter. I did not come here to do any harm to you who are my friends. I only want to do harm to the Japanese and chase them away from this country as quickly as possible. If you assist me, my government will sufficiently reward gig when the Japanese are driven away.”
This blood chit is written in all the possible languages of the country the military personnel are going to be dropped or flying over. This blood chit is written in seventeen languages including; English, French, Annamite, Haka, Kachin, Laizo, Karen, Burmese, Malay, Sumatra, Tamil, Chinese, Jawi, Thai, W Shan, E Shan & N Thai and Bengali.
A blood chit is a notice carried by military personnel and addressed to any civilians who may come across an armed-services member – such as a shot-down pilot – in difficulties. As well as identifying the force to which the bearer belongs as friendly, the notice displays a message requesting that the service member be rendered every assistance.
In the simplest sense, a blood chit is a prepared message, written in local languages, that a lost service member can present to most anyone who might help. It offers a rough description of the predicament – “I am not from here and would like to get back to where I belong” – along with both a request for aid and the promise of a reward for assistance. The chits are carried by many air crews, particularly fixed-wing air crews, and by other service members deemed to be at what the military calls “high risk of isolation.”
This is in mostly good condition, one small cloth moth damage to the Union Jack and some damage to the bottom centre which can be seen in the photos for more details.
This will be sent via Royal Mail special delivery and dispatched within one working days. Also happy to ship internationally.
