    About this item

An original Women's Royal Naval Service Tricorn Hat as worn by officers and senior rates during the Second World War.

This pattern of cap was worn through the Second World and is made from a soft, black coloured velour fabric. The edge of the brim features a cotton binding and a mohair band is fitted around the base of the crown. A Wrens officer's cap badge is fitted to this and features a light blue wreath surrounding the fouled anchor device and is surmounted by a king's crown.

Inside the hat the original maker's mark is still present and bears the manufacturer's name of 'James Forsyth (St. Albans) Ltd'. The original size label which is typical of the period is also present and states the size as 6 3/4.

The hat displays extremely well with only limited signs of wear and use. There is some soiling to the sweatband inside the hat but overall it is a fine example. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that it is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.

A very nice example of this pattern of cap which would be very hard to better in many ways.
