About this item
A unique hand painted Crest removed from RAF Lincoln Bomber SX934 after being scraped in 1958.
Measuring 560mm x 384mm the crest is that of the RAF Flying School (Cranwell) and appears to have been executed on a sheet of airframe aluminium, cut to shape and then riveted to SX934 rather than being painted directly onto the airframe.
Overall condition is very good, the colours bright and without significant loss.
I managed to find a photograph of Avro Lincoln B1C SX934 of RAFC Cranwell Photographed at the Battle of Britain Open Day, RAF Valley, Anglesey, North Wales in September 1958. These can be found on the internet.
On November 13th1958, 934’s landing gear collapsed while landing at RAF Manby and it was deemed beyond repair and scrapped.
A truly beautiful display piece from the golden days of British Military Aviation.
