About this item
An original pair of 'Trousers, Snow Suit' dating from 1942. They were issued throughout the war to various British units and also some American units (including airborne) in the Ardennes.
These trousers were designed to be worn with the matching white smock and are made from the same hard wearing cotton twill as the jacket. They feature a drawstring waist and map pocket to the front whilst the knee area is reinforced with a second layer of cotton twill. The map pocket fastens with a chocolate brown button which is typical of items manufactured in 1942.
The original label is no longer present although there is clear evidence of where it was previously fitted.
The trousers are either a size 2 and when laid flat the trousers measure -
Waist - 20"
Rise - 14 1/2"
Rear Rise - 17"
Inside leg - 29 1/2"
Outside leg - 42"
Cuff - 9 1/2"
The trousers are in good condition for their age with some limited staining as illustrated in the pictures. There are a few period repairs as illustrated in the pictures but the trousers are still very wearable. Please study the pictures and bear in mind that these are a vintage, pre-worn pair of trousers which may have small issues commensurate with age.
All in all a good example which could suit both a collector or re-enactor well!
