About this item
A very nice example of the M31 Canteen in the larger 1 litre size originally intended for Tropical and Mountain Troops as well as medical personnel when used with a modified harness, but eventually finding service in all branches of the land troops.
The aluminium flask marked EEF42 is contained within a brown felt cover closed at the side by four press fasteners and fitted with a cotton webbing and pig skin strap, Bakelite screw cap and sprung clip for attaching to a bread bag. The drinking cup is black Bakelite.
Overall condition is very good with the notable exception of a very well executed and I believe depot undertaken repair to the felt cover one side of the horizontal harness support strap where it perhaps pulled from the felt.
