About this item
An original 1941 dated Canadian made two gallon petrol can as used throughout the Second World War.
This pattern of can was used during the inter-war period as well as in WW2 before being phased out in favour of the 'jerry' can. It is made from steel and the construction with the top lip denotes this as being a Canadian made version. There is a handle to the top and the 1941 manufacture year is pressed into the top panel. The cap is 'marked 'Pratts' and the manufacturer's initials of 'G. S. W.' are present to the base along with the number 41 which refers to the manufacture year.
What is particularly nice is that the can retains its original 'WATER' stencil to the front.
The can is in 'as found' condition and is complete originally, having never been repainted or similar. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that it may have small flaws commensurate with age.
Overall a great example with a good early war date which retains its original stencil.
This is a vintage item which is 'sold as seen'
