About this item
A very good condition private purchase 1939 EKII manufactured by Wilhelm Deumer, the ribbon ring stamped with Deumer's LDO code L/11.
The frames are silver plated neusilber and the core in black finished iron.
The Cross retains the majority of the original factory frosted and burnished finish albeit with minor patination.
The early war first pattern black LDO box is in overall excellent condition with only minor wear.
The exterior lid impressed with the early LDO logo in silver and the velvet base fitted for the Cross.
Mounted to the interior lid is a photo of the wartime grave of what I can only presume is the original owner of the Iron Cross.
The grave marker is inscribed Fhj-Uffz (Fahnenjunker-Unteroffizier) Walter Koljeroilken, an officer candidate of 10.Grenadier Regiment 254.
The text indicates he was born on February 21st, 1922, and died on August 31, 1943.
Complete with a small piece of original ribbon.
Early and scarce LDO set with an interesting photo that is worthy of further research.
