Rare 1914 Iron Cross Second Class with Attached 1939 EKII Spange in a Custom Made Case

An extremely nice 1914 EKII with a Government standard unmarked 938 grade silver frame and a black finished magnetic iron core that has a specially made small diameter ribbon ring fitted, which is sewn directly to the folded 1914 EK ribbon. Attached to the ribbon is an early silver plated tombak 1939 private purchase Spangen that still retains the majority of the original frosted and burnished finish albeit with minor patina.
The reverse of the spange is marked L 56 (Funcke und Brüninghaus of Lüdenscheid).
Unfortunately the Spange has two broken off prongs although one is still present in the case.  The other two remaining prongs are holding the clasp securely to the ribbon.
The custom made case is of a black leatherette covered light wood and compressed cardboard construction with a beige velvet and white artificial silk interior.
The velvet base is fitted for both the Cross and ribbon which is most unusual.
The original recipient obviously was extremely proud of both his Iron Crosses and had this special case bespoke made.
The silk separator with one minor split.
Hinge and push button in working order.
Rare set.
