About this item
A very good condition early war 1939 Iron Cross First Class manufactured by Wächtler und Lange of Mittweida.
Constructed with a silver-plated neusilber frame & backplate and a black finished non magnetic tombak core.
Slight wear to the paint on the swastika showing the tombak underneath.
Early unmarked Cross but a typical W&L product.
Hinge, pin and clasp in perfect working order.
The case is the early war domed variant manufactured of light wood and compressed cardboard, the interior of beige velvet and off white satin.
Silver white Iron Cross impressed into the lid.
Pinned to the interior upper lid is a 1939 EKI/EKII stickpin, this being a plated and painted nickel-silver type with a knurled pin.
The outer shipping carton printed with the legend Eiserne Kreuz 1.Klasse 1939 nur vom Empfänger zu öffnen (Iron Cross 1st Class 1939, only to be opened by the recipient).
Wächtler und Lange manufacturer details stamped to one side.
The carton in good used condition with wear and slight damages plus one small interior flap missing.
Very desirable early war matching set.
