About this item
A very nice example of a slightly vaulted Iron Cross First Class by Zimmermann.
Overall condition is very good with wear to the finish on the Swastika on the iron core. Pin and hinge are very good with the reverse of the pin stamped 20.
The cross is accompanied by what I believe is, according to Maerz and Stimson, “the so called Halbetui”. It is shallower than a standard case and has no closure catch. Condition is fair only with the paper covering worn flat along the front edges and the lid no longer closing flat. The lid is embossed with an Iron Cross and a short length of ribbon has been affixed to the inside of the lid. Probably quite a rare case.
