WW2 RAF D-TYPE FLYING GAUNTLETS

WW2 RAF TYPE-D FLYING GAUNTLETS. Part of the type-D electrically heated flying suit, these gloves were designed to be worn with the type-D heated liner gloves, and a set of silk inner gloves. These gauntlets could be worn with a heated inner suit liner, waistcoat, or Sidcot suit, but were often worn by themselves or with just the silk inner gloves.

These gauntlets are in pretty good lightly used condition, showing signs of some use but without damage. The leather is still very soft and supple, retaining very nice brown finish. One glove does appear to be slightly larger than the other, however, both are labeled as size 8 gloves. Possibly a slight difference during the manufacturing process. Inside the felt lining is again in good condition, without any issues. As mentioned labeled in both gloves, with a broad arrow, size 8, and stores reference numbers 22C/ 987 and 990, both left and right-handed gloves having separate stores numbers. Overall a lovely pair of gauntlets that display very nicely indeed, perfect for any RAF collection, display, or museum.
