About this item
Now becoming more difficult to find, this 1959 Pattern Denison Smock is in very good wearable condition and in a good size.
The label is now washed out but I can just make out a 1961 date. Overall condition is very good, the nylon zip working perfectly, the ape tail in place, the knitted cuffs perfect and with all Newey brass press fasteners in place and working. There is wear to the upper edge of the collar which had a strip of green cloth applied, and some areas of light wear at the skirt
There is just a suspicion of a size 6 stamp on the label but the measurements are;
Armpit to Armpit 26.5”
Shoulder to end of cuff 25”
Base of neck – skirt 30”
British Airborne Troops were involved in Operation Vantage in June 1961: The 2nd Battalion, The Parachute Regiment (2 PARA) formed part of an 8,000-strong battle group deployed to Kuwait to deter a threatened Iraqi invasion. The paratroopers occupied the strategic Matla Ridge astride the Iraqi tank route to Kuwait City
