Deadstock Original 1940s British Men's CC41 Suit Jacket - Size 36L

An original men's single breasted jacket which was made in the 1940s as part of the CC41 utility clothing scheme and is in deadstock, unworn condition. 

The CC41 utility scheme which was brought into effect in the UK in 1941 as part of the larger rationing scheme. The idea behind it was that affordable, quality clothing would be available to everyone of every class and could be bought using coupons. The label is now deemed to be highly desirable by many collectors due to its wartime history. 

The jacket is made from a classic period navy blue coloured worsted wool and features a single breasted, single button front and peaked lapels. The jacket features two flapped pockets to the skirt and a single pocket to the breast. The interior is fully lined with a navy blue coloured rayon and there are two interior pockets. Above this pocket is the maker label which is the style seen during this period. The original paper CC41 label can be found tacked to the skirt and bears the spec number of X209A. The fact that this label is still in place suggests that the jacket has never been worn. 

The jacket was intended to fit a 36" chest and when laid flat it measures - 

Chest - 20 1/2"
Inside arm - 20"
Outside arm - 27 1/4"
Shoulders - 17"
Length - 30"

The jacket is in good condition for its age and is still very wearable. There are some small holes to the skirt of the jacket and another small hole to the left elbow as illustrated in the pictures. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small issues commensurate with age.
