    About this item

An original Dutch Army Chaplains tunic dating from the 1940s and in excellent condition.

This tunic was tailor made in Eindhoven to a very high quality which is particularly evident to the interior as well as by the bullion insignia which has been applied directly to the tunic. It is made from a khaki green coloured barathea wool and features pleated breast pockets, lower bellow pockets, a four button front and epaulettes. Brass buttons are fitted throughout and the epaulettes feature embroidered crucifixes to them. To the upper left sleeve there is another badge which is again embroidered directly onto the jacket and features the moto of 'Je Maintiendrai' surmounted by a rampant lion which is the post-1947 badge used by the Dutch. There also appears to be evidence of where badges were previously fitted the collar.

The interior of the jacket is lined in a green coloured rayon material and features a high amount of work to it, particularly around the chest area. The original tailors label is still present to the interior and features typical 1940s graphics. It bears the maker's name of 'Harry van Loon' along with the word 'tailor' and the place name of Eindhoven.

The jacket will suit around a 36" - 37" chest and when laid flat it measures -

    Chest - 20 1/2"
    Inside arm - 16 1/2"
    Outside arm - 24"
    Shoulders - 16"
    Length - 30 1/2"

The tunic is in excellent condition with no serious flaws or damage. It displays very well and is still very wearable but please bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-owned item which may gave small issues commensurate with age.

A very finely made tunic with some amazing embroidered badges!
