Original 1942 Dated RAF Ordinary Airman's Tunic

A scarce original 1942 Dated RAF Ordinary Airman's Tunic which is in good condition.

This pattern of tunic was introduced before the Second World War and saw issue throughout the conflict and well into the post-war period. It was worn by all airmen up to the rank of Flight Sergeant. It features a complete set of original brass Kings crown button and semi embroidered eagle badges are fitted to the top of each sleeve which are typical of mid war produced tunics. Leading Aircraftman rank badges are also present and are theatre made examples, most likely made in India. There is also a British Forces Commonwealth formation patch which denotes that the owner went to serve in the Far East by the end of WW2. 

The tunic comes complete with its matching waist belt which is in good condition. 

The label is no longer present inside the tunic but there is a War Department acceptance stamp. This is surmounted by the letter 'O' which denotes 1942 as the year of manufacture. 

The tunic is a small size and when laid flat it measures - 

Chest - 19"
Waist - 16 1/2"
Inside arm - 18"
Outside arm - 24 3/4"
Shoulders - 16 1/2"
Length at rear - 29"

The overall condition of the tunic is good with some signs of wear and age. There are no serious flaws or damage and overall it is a very clean example. Being a 'best' tunic, it has been very well looked after and only seen light use. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have other small flaws commensurate with age.
