Original 1943 Dated British Army 1940 Pattern Dismounted Greatcoat - Size 8

An original WW2 1940 Pattern Dismounted Greatcoat which is a large size No. 8. 

The coat is a standard 1940 Pattern Dismounted Ordinary Ranks Greatcoat which is made from a heavy khaki green coloured serge wool and features plastic buttons throughout. These may have been added after the war but some greatcoats were produced with brass buttons when stocks were low, so this is also a possibility. Flapped pockets are located to the skirt and there is a half belt at the rear which fastens with buttons. There is a regimental number marked to the interior which may offer the prospect of further research.

Inside the coat the original label is still present and is bright and legible. It states the size as 8 and the maker as 'Cambridge Clothing Factory LTD'. Below this is the War Department broad arrow marking and the date which has been obliqued but looks to be 1943. 

The coat displays well and is still very wearable. There are some signs of age and wear including some holes towards the bottom of the skirt which is illustrated in the pictures. The photographs make it look as if there is some fading but this is just poor lighting. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item with some issues commensurate with age. 

A good original wartime greatcoat in a hard to find large size.
