Original 1943 Dated British Army Mounted Pattern Greatcoat - Size 7

A rare original 1943 dated British Army Mounted Pattern Greatcoat which is a size 7. 

This pattern of jacket was produced specifically for mounted troops and was issued to members of the Royal Armoured Corps, Royal Tank Regiment, cavalry regiments and others. It is notably shorter than the Dismounted version and does not feature the half belt to the rear. 

The coat is made from the standard khaki green coloured blanket serge. Flapped pockets are located to the lower portion and the interior is lined with a white blanket wool. There is a single vent to the rear and all of the buttons are economy pattern green coloured vegetable ivory (plastic) examples which are typical of mid-war manufacture. 

The original label is still present to the interior and is bright and legible. It bears the title 'Greatcoat, Mounted' and the size is marked as No. 7 which is designed to fit someone 6' to 6' 2" tall with a 41-43" chest. The maker's name is also present and reads 'Dunlop Rubber Co. Ltd' below which is the 1943 date and the War Department broad arrow marking. 

When laid flat the coat measures - 

Chest - 24 1/2"
Inside arm - 21"
Outside arm - 27 1/2"
Shoulders - 19"
Length - 44"

The coat is in good condition overall with some signs of age and wear. There is some limited moth grazing which is illustrated in the pictures and only noticeable under close scrutiny. It displays well and is still very wearable but please take time to study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn coat which may have small issues commensurate with age. 

A rare pattern of wartime coat which has a clear date and is a rare large size.
