Original 1951 Dated RAF Ordinary Airman's Tunic - Size 13

An original 1951 dated RAF Ordinary Airman's Tunic in a size No.13.

Whilst this tunic is dated 1951 it is identical to those worn throughout the Second World War by all RAF airmen up to the rank of Flight Sergeant as both a working dress and a walking out uniform.

This particular example features brass Kings crown RAF buttons and eagle badges are fitted to the top of each sleeve. Below these are embroidered Leading Aircraftman badges which are again embroidered examples. 

Inside the jacket retains its original issue label which states the size as No.13 which will fit someone of a 37-38" chest and 34" waist. The manufacturer's name is stated as 'J. Harvey Ltd' below which is the 1951 date and the War Department broad arrow.

The jacket will suit a 36" chest and when laid flat it measures - 

Chest - 20 1/2"
Wiast - 16 1/2"
Inside arm - 20"
Outside arm - 26"
Shoulders - 16 1/2"
Length at rear - 31 1/2"

The tunic is in good condition as can be seen in the pictures with some signs of wear as well as some small moth nips. There is also some stitching which has pulled at the armpit as illustrated. Please take time to study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a vintage item which may have small issues consummate with age.

All in all a good original tunic which is ideal for the collector and re-enactor alike.
