About this item

An original 1953 dated 'Jackets Bush Khaki, 1950 Pattern' which is a size No. 6.

Often referred to as the 'Khaki Drill Bush Jacket' this pattern of jacket has to be one of the most classic military jackets of the 20th Century. Cut in a typical 'Safari' style, the jacket features two buttoning chest pockets with scalloped flaps, two lower flapped pockets, long sleeves and an integral waist belt with brass buckle which is removable. The jacket is made from cellular cotton which is often referred to as 'Aertex' which was a popular choice during this period due to its lightweight, breathable nature.

The jacket has been fitted with staybrite Prince of Wales Own shoulder titles by the original owner.

Inside the tunic the original label is still present and is as bright and legible. It bears the title of 'Jackets Bush Khaki 1950 Pattern' and states the size as No. 6. It also bears the manufacturer's name of 'J. C. Ells Ltd'. The 1952 date and War Department broad arrow marking are also present as is the War Department acceptance stamp which is surmounted by the letter 'L'.

The jacket will suit around a 40" chest depending on desired fit and when laid flat the jacket measures -

Chest - 22"
Waist - 18 1/2"
Inside arm - 15"
Outside arm - 22"
Shoulders - 18 1/4"
Length - 26 1/2"

The condition of the jacket is very good and it displays well. There are no signs of undue wear but please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.

Overall this is a great example which would be hard to better. A must have for the serious collector!

This is a vintage item which is 'sold as seen'
