Original 1960s Japanese Made Poplin Cotton Smock

A fantastic original Japanese made smock which dates from the 1960s and is in excellent condition. 

This smock was clearly made in Japan around the time of the Vietnam war. The construction, zip and size tag are typical of items produced in Japan for American servicemen. 

The anorak is made from an olive drab coloured heavy poplin cotton and is a typical smock design which is pulled on over the wearer's head and features a large hood. There is a short metal zip to the neck which is marked 'VKK' as is typically seen on items from this period. There is a small pocket to the chest which features a flap which fastens with buttons. Underneath this there is another zipper which again features the same chromium plated metal puller and the letters 'VKK'. There is a drawstring at the waist and another is fitted around the mouth of the hood. 

Inside the smock features a hanging loop at the neck along with a size tag which reads 'M'. There is also a crotch strap which is a typical feature to find on smocks from this period. 

The smock is a small size and when laid flat it measures - 

Chest - 24"
Inside arm - 16 1/4"
Outside arm - 21 1/2"
Shoulders - 21 1/2"
Length at rear - 30 1/2"

The smock is in excellent condition as can be seen in the pictures. It only shows limited signs of wear and age and overall it displays very well. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that it is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.
