Original 1960s Portuguese Lizard Camouflage Combat Jacket - Size 38

An original Portuguese Army Lizard Camouflage combat Smock which dates from the 1960s. 

This pattern of smock is typical of combat smocks from the mid Century period. The camouflage is clearly a copy of the French TAP camouflage which was produced in the immediate post-war years. The jacket features the classic 'Lizard Pattern' camouflage which is screen printed and is notably different to the French pattern featuring more dominant green and brown which are much more rich in colour. The front of the jacket fastens with buttons and the smock features two chest pockets as well as lower pockets - all of which feature pocket flaps. The sleeves feature a barrel cuff which fastens with a button and the shoulders and elbows feature double layered, reinforced sections. 

Inside the smock there is a single interior pocket which fastens with a button. The original manufacturer's label is still present to the neck and features typical period graphics.

Being a smock, this jacket is cut in a large, oversize manner to allow for free movement. It will suit around a 38" - 39" chest and when laid flat it measures - 

Chest - 24"
Inside arm - 19 1/2"
Outside arm - 23"
Shoulders - 19"
Length - 27"

The smock is in good condition with only very limited signs of use and age. The fabric is still crisp and fresh feeling which would suggest that the jacket has not been worn. The camouflage is bright and dark and looks to have never been laundered and there is no sun fading or similar.  Overall it displays well and is totally wearable. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-owned item which may have flaws commensurate with age.
