    About this item

An original 1975 dated Swedish military PVC oilskin raincoat in excellent condition.

This style of Polyvinyl chloride coat was popular throughout the mid century period for people working in wet conditions, particularly those on docksides and ships. It is made from a black coloured PVC material which was ideally suited to wet conditions as it is highly waterproof. The coat features a single breasted front, stand and fall collar and epaulettes to the shoulders. Being a workwear piece of utilitarian design it features a straight sleeve with no cuff but does have a rear vent which fastens with a single button. There are also two pieces of reflective material to the bottom rear of the coat.

Inside the coat the Swedish military stamp of three crowns is still present as is the 1975 date and the manufacturer's name 'Sintex'. There is also a size label which reads 'C42'.

The coat will fit a 38" - 40" chest well and when laid flat it measures -

    Chest - 22 1/4"
    Inside arm - 17 1/2"
    Outside arm - 24"
    Shoulders - 17 3/4"
    Length - 43 1/2"

The coat is in excellent condition and appears to be unworn. It is still very supple and extremely wearable with no issues or flaws that I can find. It is a vintage, pre-owned item however so may have small issues commensurate with age.

A very good example of this style of coat in excellent condition!
