About this item
An original French Army white coloured linen bourgeon work jacket in unworn condition which dates from the First World War period.
This pattern of jacket was produced during the Great War and was issued alongside a set of trousers. It is made from a white coloured linen and features a simple, utilitarian design with button front. These are all metal examples which are marked 'Equipments Militaires', typical of those found on French military clothing from this period. A stand collar is also present and there is a large welt pocket to the left breast which fastens with the same type of button. To the rear of the jacket is a large half belt. A plain barrel cuff is located to the end of each sleeve and these also fasten with the same style of metal buttons.
The jacket is a medium size which will suit around a 42" - 44" chest and when laid flat it measures -
Chest - 25 1/5"
Inside arm - 23"
Outside arm - 23"
Shoulders - 24 1/2"
Length at rear - 30"
The jacket is in excellent condition with no signs of previous wear or use. It could be described as 'deadstock' or 'unworn'. There are however a couple of orange coloured marks to the front which are illustrated in the pictures. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that it is a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small issues commensurate with age.
A very nice example of this hard to find piece of early French workwear.
This is a vintage item which is 'sold as seen'
