About this item
An original private purchase made battledress blouse which dates from the Second World War.
This jacket was privately tailored, possibly for an officer as they usually were the only ones with the money to afford such things. It closely follows the pattern of the standard issue 1940 pattern battledress blouse but is made from a barathea wool rather than the serge wool used for the issue type. This material would again suggest that the jacket was made for an officer as their Service Dress uniforms. All of the other materials also date the jacket to the 1940s including the chromium plated waist belt buckle.
The jacket is a smaller size which will suit around a 36" chest and when laid flat it measures -
Chest - 21 1/2"
Waist - 18" (adjustable)
Inside arm - 18 1/2"
Outside arm - 24 1/2"
Shoulders - 17"
Length at rear - 21 1/2"
The jacket is in good condition for its age with some signs of wear and use. There are no serious flaws or damage and overall it displays well. Please study these before purchasing and bear in mind that it is a vintage, pre-worn item which has some small flaws commensurate with age.
All in all a nice original Second World War battledress blouse which would make a nice addition to a Battledress collection!
This is a vintage item which is 'sold as seen'
