Rare Original 1943 Dated Indian Made British Cotton Drill Battledress Jacket

A rare original Indian made British military khaki drill battledress blouse dating from 1943. 

This pattern of blouse was produced in India during the mid-war period alongside a matching pair of trousers. It is notably different to other patterns produced as it is made in cotton drill. The pattern follows that of the standard wool 'battledress, serge' blouse produced at the beginning of the war featuring fly covered buttons, pleated breast pockets and a stand and fall collar which fastens with two brass hook and eye fasteners. All of the buttons are the galvanized iron type often used on Indian made items from this period. 

Inside the jacket there are two interior pockets, one of which bears the circular stamp usually found on Indian produced military clothing from this period. It bears the date of May 1943. There is a second stamp which confirms this as the year of issue. 

The jacket will suit a 38" chest and when laid flat it measures - 

Chest - 22"
Waist - 17 1/2" (adjustable)
Inside arm - 18"
Outside arm - 23 1/2"
Shoulders - 16 1/2"
Length at rear - 21 1/2"

The jacket is in good condition with only limited signs of wear and age. Overall it displays very well with no serious flaws or damage but please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage item which may have small issues commensurate with age.
